Let's Get Started:

You take the (Mediral) HCG drops twice a day. Using an oral syringe, measure .75cc (same as .75ml), put it under your tongue and leave it there for 2 minutes, then swallow. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK 20 MINUTES BEFORE OR AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN THE HCG DROPS (morning and afternoon doses). It's best if you take the HCG first thing in the morning before drinking anything, and the second dose mid afternoon every day!

The first two days you are to eat all and anything you like, especially fatty/sweet foods. These are considered "non-effective" days for weighing, but important. This is to ensure all your normal and structural fat is full. These two days add to the success of your diet.

On the third morning, right after you get up, go to the bathroom; then weigh yourself. To have an accurate weighing you need to have uniform time and conditions each day for weighing time. Do not take your HCG or drink anything before you weigh each day. The first thing in the morning is the best time to weigh. Record your weight. Today you begin the 500 calorie diet. Keep track of your calories daily and record your weight each day as well.

You need to DRINK a minimum of 2 liters each day. Water is the best, but herbal tea is also approved. Do not add any sugar to your herbal tea (non-sugar sweeteners can be used), you can add one tablespoon of milk if desired/day. You can also use the juice of one lemon to season food or drink each day.

For LUNCH and DINNER you can have:

MEAT: 3.5 oz. (weighed before cooking, fat removed, no additional fat added in cooking) of lean chicken breast (breast meat only), lean beef, white fish, lobster, crab or shrimp.
VEGETABLE - choose one for each meal: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.
BREAD: one bread stick (grissino) or one Melba toast.
FRUIT: an apple, orange, or a handful of strawberries or 1/2 grapefruit.

You can choose to have your fruit and melba toast during the day as snacks. They are then subtracted from your lunch and/or dinner (depending on how many snacks you have). You only eat two servings of the meat, fruits, vegetables and bread each day as listed above. You can use seasonings such as salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, basil, etc., but no oil, sugar or butter. I did use a little dressing for my green salads, but they contained no sugar - they were vinaigrettes and had below 25 calories/serving. If you do this be sure to add these into your calorie count for the day.

Sample Day:
First in the morning - HCG drops
20 minutes later herbal tea, glass of lemon water
10:00 am - approved fruit serving
12:00 pm - lunch (meat, vegetable, melba toast)
2:00 pm - approved fruit serving (or could be melba toast)
4:00 pm - HCG drops
6:00 pm - dinner (same as lunch minus any snacks)
(Be sure to subtract any snacks you have from your lunch/dinner foods.)

Tips:
Hot/warm liquid helps when you are hungry (herbal tea) - remember to drink lots of liquid each day.
Spicy foods help you feel more satisfied - season with some "hot" spices.

WARNING: It is important to point out that any attempt to observe this diet without HCG will lead to trouble in two to three days.

Diet is according to Dr. Simeon's protocol for the use of HCG.

HCG Phase 3 Diet

The maintenance phase (also known as Phase 3 created by Kevin Trudeau and the stabilization period) is the 3 week period after you finish your HCG. Remember to keep on the 500 calorie diet for 3 days after your last HCG Drops. There are a few simple rules you must follow: you must weigh yourself every day, you must remain within 2 pounds of your last weight, and you cannot eat sugars and starches. It is extremely important to eat enough protein on this phase, many people eat at least 100 grams of true protein (about 400 grams weighed raw). If you go over the 2 pounds, you must do a steak day (this is explained in the protocol ). This 3 week period is crucial to the success of the diet. The entire phase is explained in Dr. Simeons Pounds & Inches, here is a list to help you out. Before you go to the list, read an excerpt from Pounds & Inches:

When the three days of dieting after the last drops are over, the patients are told that they may now eat anything they please, except sugar and starch, provided they faithfully observe one simple rule. This rule is that they must have their own portable bathroom-scale always at hand, particularly while traveling. They must without fail weigh themselves every morning as they get out of bed, having first emptied their bladder. If they are in the habit of having breakfast in bed, they must weigh before breakfast.

It takes about 3 weeks before the weight reached at the end of the treatment becomes stable, i.e. does not show violent fluctuations after an occasional excess. During this period patients must realize that the so-called carbohydrates, that is sugar, rice, bread, potatoes, pastries etc, are by far the most dangerous. If no carbohydrates whatsoever are eaten, fats can be indulged in somewhat more liberally, but as soon as fats and starch are combined things are very liable to get out of hand. This has to be observed very carefully during the first 3 weeks after the treatment is ended otherwise disappointments are almost sure to occur.

One last item before we begin: The day that you take yourself your last drops, you count 72 hours (continuing on the 500 calorie diet for those 72 hours) from that moment and then you start the maintenance phase. That weight that you were the morning of your last drpos is the weight that you use as a basis for your maintenance phase. Anything OVER two pounds from that weight calls for a steak day.

NOTE: The time period to begin this phase is not 3 days after your last drops, it is 72 hours!

First thing, when beginning the 3 week maintenance phase, make sure to increase your calories to at least 1500. Don't try to continue the diet after the HCG is out of your system. Bear in mind, your weight will fluctuate the first week or two; this is normal. Do a steak day if you need to. The weight will eventually stabilize. Watch the starch and sugar religiously during the 3 weeks. Read labels. (Continue) eating organic food if possible. Eat whatever you want, without starch or sugar, during the maintenance phase. Make sure you are eating enough. Use healthy fats and dairy products to up your calorie intake if necessary. Drink enough water.

Helpful Lists

Low Carb Vegetables
This list is roughly arranged from lowest to highest carbohydrate counts, but all are non-starchy and generally low in carbohydrates. Exact carb count depends on serving size. Remember when counting carbs in vegetables that the fiber is not counted, and can be subtracted from the total.

* Corn
* Parsnips
* Peas
* Plantains
* Potatoes in all forms
* Winter Squashes (particularly acorn and butternut)

Choose Low Sugar Fruit
In general, your best bet fruits are these, but do check carb counts. These are sort of arranged by sugar content, taking volume and weight, into account. This is not an exhaustive list.

Good news: the fruits lowest in sugar are some of the highest in nutritional value, including antioxidants and other phytonutrients.

Fruits lowest in sugar:
* Rhubarb
* Strawberries
* Cranberries
* Raspberries
* Blackberries
* Blueberries
* Grapefruit
* Melons
* Apricots
* Plums
* Peaches
* Pears
* Guava

* Apples
* Papaya

Fruits fairly high in sugar:
* Grapes
* Tangerine

Foods to Avoid:

Avoiding sugar simply means avoid cookies, cake, pie, candy, cupcakes, frosting, soft drinks, corn syrup, kool-aid, processed food, energy drinks, fruit juice, honey, yogurt, donuts, cookies, pudding, maple syrup, brownies, canned fruit in heavy syrup, ice cream, cool whip, boxed breakfast cereals, breakfast bars, granola - nothing with sugar.

Be sure to read food labels, check to see if sugar is added into a product before you buy it. Nearly every product in a can or box contains sugar in one of its many names. The first five ingredients listed on an item is the majority of the product, so be sure that sugar is not in the top five.

Avoiding starch means avoid cornstarch, white flour, wheat flour, any flour, pasta, any bread or bread product, breadsticks, bagels, hamburger and hotdog buns, crackers, tortillas, oatmeal, rice, polenta, peas, corn, lentils, pita bread, pretzels, corn chips, potato chips, yams, potatoes, pancakes, muffins, nearly all root vegetables, any breading on fish, chicken, or other protein., beans, grains, acorn squash, butternut squash, cereals, granola, cereal bars, popcorn, biscuits, corn bread, taco shells, croutons, rice cakes, Cream of Wheat, corn meal, and some nuts.

Most restaurants and fast food places add sugar to nearly every product, so be wary of eating out. Other meats to watch out include deli meats, bacon, ham, prosciutto, sausage, and hotdogs.

Do not eat processed cheese (i.e. Velveeta), it contains unnecessary sugars and starches. Try not to eat processed anything for that matter.

STEAK DAY TIP:

Whenever you weigh 2 lbs. above your lowest weight, don't eat any food during that day. Drink plenty of water (herbal tea is okay as well), that evening eat a steak (as large as you want) and an apple. That's it for the day. You will find that you drop 1-3 pounds. It's a great way to get you back on track as well if you've started eating a bit too much.

HCG Phases:

The 1st phase is the two days eating all and whatever you want.
2nd phase is the 500 calorie diet with the HCG drops.
3rd phase is the maintenance diet that begin 3 days after you finish your drops. This one is crucial - or you'll undo much of what you lost.
4th phase is you watching and learning what you can and can't eat, portion size, etc. to maintain you're desired weight.
